Personally I would rather see a Small Laser style weapon like the small laser turrets in MechWarrior.
The gun fires a beam dealing X damage over Y time (this time being 1-2 sec) before recharging for the next shot, 3 consecutive shots would overheat the gun.
However the real Amarrian Heavy weapon was confirmed to be a Scrambler something.... some piece of scrambler tech. |

No check out the MechWarrior series and the DoW games their Lascannons fire a laser for X seconds which impact like a main battle cannon rather than a laser.
I kind of want this for tank turrets. |

That's exactly what I was hoping for the Amarr heavy weapon to be like. Perhaps it should need to charge for a rather long time before firing to give some downside to the huge alpha damage we should expect from a *heavy* Amarr weapon. Basically I'd like to see a Breach Forge Gun that shoots a one second laser blast and melts a MLT tank in one shot. I'd be hugely disappointed if the Amarr heavy weapon would actually turn out to not be a big f***ing laser.
It would need to be, should this be the archetype, more of a battle cannon style weapon than a long time beam laser. |
